Rapid City, SD – Today, NDN Collective announced recipients of the 2023 Community Self-Determination Grant, to support and invest in the long-term visions, priorities, and power-building of Indigenous Nations, communities, and Peoples.
Seventy-two Indigenous-led organizations from across Turtle Island and related Island Nations working to Defend, Develop, and Decolonize Indigenous Peoples and Mother Earth will receive grants of up to $100,000 annually for up to two years.
“We have seen the impact that investing in the self-determination of Indigenous Peoples is having as they continue to address some of the most critical challenges that humanity is facing,” said Nicole Yanes, Director of Grantmaking at NDN Collective.
“Our communities are ready for the kind of resources we have been liberating and rematriating back to our people. As we work toward rematriating even more wealth, we hope that one day the need no longer exists.”
“I am honored to assist with the rematriation of resources to Indigenous communities through the Community Self-Determination grant program,” said Janet Maylen, program officer at NDN Collective. “Flexible, multi-year support enables power-building for grantee partners by supporting Indigenous-led solutions to catalyze positive change in their communities.”
